The Easy Way to Organize Your Fabric Scraps

I don't know about you, but I have a hard time letting go of fabric. I have fabric remnants that go back years (okay, decades), and even have fabric scraps I'm saving because of their sentimental value. I have this feeling that someday the perfect project will come along and I'll be so glad that I saved the fabric. Anyone else feel that way?

I posted a few weeks ago about how I organized my larger pieces of fabric (see post here). It was a popular post, so I guess that means people can relate to having an abundance of fabric! Today I want to share how I organized the rest of my fabric, the smaller pieces and scraps.
This really was a simple project. Just like with my larger pieces of fabric, I started off by trimming off any weird strips or strings from the fabric. This is what I would be doing anyway once I decided to use the scrap, and it made it much easier to organize smoothly.
Next I folded the fabric into a strip of approximately 5" by as long as the fabric was.
Then I just rolled up the fabric into a little bundle. I finished each bundle by tying it with a small piece of ribbon. Easy, right?
I will admit that it did take me an hour or so to go through my scraps and roll them up into bundles, so I just chose to do it while watching TV. By the time the show was over, I was finished.
I loaded all of my bundles into one of the storage boxes that fit my Expedit, so they're ready to go! Next time I am working on a small project, it'll be easy to sort through the bundles to find something to fit.

How do you organize your fabric scraps? Do you have any fun projects to use up all those scraps?
